TRAINING EXPECTATIONS

The EMDR in Conjoint Couples Therapy Training is a two-day training sessions, February 27-28, 2025.

To complete the training and receive a Certificate of Completion and Coninuing Education credits, you are required to attend and complete in full the two-day session. This course will provide 15 EMDRIA credits, 15 APA CE credits and 15 NBCC hours.  Please be sure that when you register for the training, you are able to attend the entire training and have those times protected in your calendar.

PRACTICUM EXPERIENCE

During the training, you will be required to participate in real practice sessions of EMDR therapy within conjoint couples therapy with fellow training participants, both as clients and as therapists, during which the trainer/facilitator(s) will be providing support and guidance. As clients, you will role play different characters from the movie, Encanto, in relationship with one another as a couple. You and fellow training participants will facilitate EMDR therapy with one another, while having another fellow training participant in the session with you, role playing your partner.  You are asked to watch videos from the soundtrack of Encanto (wtaching the full movie is recommended but not required) to prepare for the training prior to the training itself.  During the training practice sessions that you will engage in as clients, as you imagine those characters' experiences (thoughts, feelings, negative beliefs, memories, behavior, symptoms, hopes, etc.), it's likely that you may connect with personal, vulnerable and emotional material from your own personal and relational experience.

Caution: For participants with untreated trauma histories, there is a possibility that this training may tap into unconsciously held (and previously unknown), highly charged trauma material. If you have had traumatic experiences or a diagnosis that causes you to be concerned about participating in this part of the training at this time, please contact us at emdr@TheRoadLessTraveledCounseling.com before registering so we can discuss your situation and offer support as you consider whether it is the right time for you to participate in this training.
