You are receiving this letter and application form because our records indicate you are eligible to apply for the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians COVID-19 Rescue Act Membership Assistance Program.
About the Program
The Board of Directors have established the COVID-19 Rescue Act Membership Assistance Program to ensure adequate resources are available to respond to the negative economic impacts of COVID-19. The Program provides one-time grants in the amount of $2,000 to eligible Tribal members. Tribal member adults who are 18 and older must submit an application for assistance no later than September 30, 2021. Applications for minors under the age of 18 are due by December 31, 2021. All applications can be submitted any time before those deadlines.
1. Be an enrolled member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
2. Suffered a negative economic impact as a result of COVID-19.

Enclosed you will find the application to complete to apply for your COVID-19 Rescue Act Membership Assistance Program grant. Please fill out this application legibly and in its entirety. Missing or illegible information could delay the processing of your application.
The application is also available online through the Tribe’s website (www.saulttribe.com). Completing your application online may result in a more expedited timeline for receiving the grant. Please use the envelope provided if you choose to return your form via mail. Each Tribal member must apply either electronically or by mail, not both.
When To Expect Your Check
Once you have submitted your application online OR returned your completed application by mail, and it has been verified that you meet both eligibility requirements, your check will be mailed to you at the address you have indicated on your application. This may take up to six weeks depending on when your application was received.
This assistance grant is tax free. This means the Tribe will not be sending IRS 1099 forms to recipients.
