2023 OSPREY VALLEY OPEN VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Please see below for a list of volunteer roles and available shifts. Please select any shifts you wish to sign up for using the drop-down menu. Please note that you will be assigned to the shifts you select - do not select multiple roles on any day.  A minimum of two (2) shifts are required.
 
NOTE: If there are no remaining options in each dropdown menu, it is because those volunteer shifts have already been filled.

OPERATIONS

Tournament Operations
 
Assisting the Tour and Tournament Staff with the erection, maintainance and removal of tournament infrastructure. Includes roping and staking the golf course for tournament play.

Player Services
 
Player services act as a main contact between the players and the Tournament Director.  They will work closely with a TOUR representative to conduct player registration as well as other player related items throughout tournament week.  This is a stationary position.

Player Transportation
 
Player transportation will be responsible for transporting players between the golf course and host hotel/player accomodations, and in some cases, golf course and airport.  The tournament will supply vehicles for the week.  All volunteers in this area will be required to have a valid driver's license and subject to an abstract review.

Practice Facilities
 
Managing and maintaining the practice facilities throughout the week, including driving range, practice putting green(s) and short game area ensuring there are enough golf balls for players, buckets of water for clubwashing, etc.

Water Crew/Health & Safety
 
Maintaining proper inventory levels of PPE and ensuring Tour Players/Tournament staff have available water and/or beverages at all times throughout event week.

Waste Collection
 
Responsible for monitoring waste containers on-site, ensuring containers are empty and trash bags are disposed of appropriately. Ensures the overall cleanliness of all tournament areas, both on the golf course and off (tournament offices, hospitality areas, washrooms, etc).

Spotters
 
Spotters are positioned throughout the golf course to assist players easily locate their golf ball on specific holes.  Spotter flags will be provided to spotters to mark the location of the golf ball.  This is a primarily stationary position.
 
Spotters will be required to walk out to their position on the golf course.

Sand & Seed
 
Volunteers will assist the manitenance crew with seeding areas of the golf course (tees, landing areas, etc.) at the end of each day during tournament week.  This is not a physically demanding position, however there is a fair bit of bending.

SCORING

Scoring Central
 
Scoring Central is the brains of the scoring operation, where all of the information is inputted, stored and analyzed from the scoring devices used by the Walking Scorer and Driving Distance volunteers.

Driving Distance
 
Driving distance will be measured on two (2) holes during competition rounds, Thursday thru Sunday.  Volunteers will pace off the player's drives and enter them into the scoring system device.

Leaderboards
 
Leaderboard operators will take information relayed to you from Scoring Central (or a tablet) and post the top 10 players on the leaderboard for spectators to view.  This position is a stationary role.

Walking Scorers
 
Walking Scorers is the single largest and most important sub-committee within the Scoring Committee.  Each walking scorer is given a scoring device, radio and headset and will use the scorig device to record each stroke on all 18 holes; including where the shot was taken from (is. tee, fairway, rough, bunker, green, etc.).  The walking scorer does this for each player in their group simultaneously.

Standard Bearers
 
Standard Bearers will go out with the last number of groups on the weekend, carrying an aluminum standard, updating the players scores for each player in their group.

CADDIES

Caddies
 
Caddies will assist by carrying their players golf bag and assisting with any other course related items the player wishes.  Caddies should be able to walk 18 holes over multiple days, carrying roughly 50 pounds and have some basic golf knowledge.  Caddies are not mandatory by players, however we wish to secure caddies for up to half the field.
 
Note: being able to work consecutive days will better your chances of getting placed as a caddie (Ex. Monday-Friday or Thursday-Sunday or Saturday-Sunday) as we will work to pair caddies that meet the players requests.
 
Example: A player requests a caddie for Thursday-Sunday, we will place a caddie that is available for those days, not to caddies who are available Thursday/Friday and Saturday/Sunday.
