II. Application Narrative
In addition to the cover page, applicants should submit online a narrative of no more than four (4), double-spaced pages describing how your proposed policy campaign will support community campaigns, testing and incubating new policy ideas, generating evidence, and supporting interdisciplinary or cross-cutting work that informs and animates the public witness on behalf of children.
Grants may support:
- Efforts which advance coordinated local or state public policy advocacy and organizing campaigns advancing child well-being to drive meaningful, systemic change;
- Development of research and analysis, policy briefs, convenings and community campaigns that strengthen the field and related disciplines by improving practices, methods and standards, stimulating the demand for evidence and analysis and generating innovative approaches to solving policy challenges; and/or
- Opportunistic or innovative initiatives that are well-positioned to advance policy change (ie. Ballot initiatives, collective impact efforts, etc.).
In the narrative, please describe your funding request by addressing each item below:
Alignment With the Pertinent Policy Reports
- Identify which policy report(s) are informing the proposed campaign.
- How will your campaign align with the priorities of the identified report(s)?
Please share:
- Which recommendation(s) will your campaign work to advance? (List and describe as written in the identified report)
- How will your campaign engage people impacted by the policy?
- As appropriate, which body of influence listed in the identified report will the campaign directly engage?
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
- Please provide the racial/ethnic and gender demographics of your organization’s staff and board.
- How does your work serve and/or impact different racial/ethnic groups? Children/Youth?
- How are the racial/ethnic groups most affected by your work represented in your organization’s work? Include any ways that your organization strives to incorporate the perspective of the communities you serve.
Alignment with the Just for Kids Theory of Change
- Please describe the work you plan to do. How will this effort be implemented? Include a brief timeline and anticipated activities.
