Sisters Traveling SoloTM (STS) is  an innovative travel community, and imaginative travel company focused on connecting, empowering, inspiring and supporting sisters on their travel journey. The STS Facebook community was created to empower women of color to travel solo...to travel in general. STS members are located throughout the world, offering diverse thought and engagement.

 
The idea of STS was sparked after Founder, Cole Banks, read an online post discouraging black women from traveling solo. As a woman of color, the post disturbed Banks who frequently travels around the world solo, and she knew she was not alone. Her passion for traveling solo and wanting to help other sisters led to the creation of STS.
 
STS has started a new online community that is accessed exclusively by our paid members. After membership is paid, members will receive details on how to access the features of each membership perk
Why did we start this new community?  
 
Our new community is being built for several reasons; we want to give those Sisters who are no interested in joining Facebook a way to join our trips, we want to give our loyal members some additional perks, and we want to build a community outside of social media. 

MEMBERSHIP PERKS

Members Only Invite to STS Annual Meetup

Members will get an invitation-only invite to our annual STS Annual meetup. The next annual meetup will be hosted in 2020.

Annual meetups take place over a 2 - 4 day period and can be held domestically or internationally; unlike our Saturday meetups. Journey members to pay their own meetup expenses. No information is currently available for our 2020 meetup. 

Discounted Merchandise

Members get a 10% off discount code to be used on Sisters Traveling Solo merchandise. The discount includes Sisters Traveling Solo T-shirts, luggage tags, mugs, Sisters Traveling Magazine T-shirts, and Sisters Travel Magazine sweatshirts only.

Paid Members Forum

Members will get access to the paid members platform on our website.  This platform will allow members to connect with other members, post questions, and access  informarion that is deemed useful resources for travelers.  So instead of searching through the numbers of files and post in our Facebook group; our team will create a topic on our website that can be accessed by members only.

Members Only Solo Getaway & Group Trips

Paid members (and our current Sisters Traveling Solo Facebook group members) are the only Sisters who can book our group trips. You no longer have to have a Facebook page to join our trips.  Paid members are permitted the option to use their Instagram page to satisfy our verification process.  Note: that your identity will have to be verified before you can book any of our trips. We have the right to refuse your deposit if we cannot verify your identity via Facebook or Instagram.  

$75 Off Group Trips (Cultural or Traditional)

"Confirmed" Members of our paid membership program get $75 Off the 1st trip payment of any STS group (traditional or cultural; excludes Solo Getaways) group trips. Discount will be applied to the 1st trip payment.  Discount is non refundable and cannot be used on trips that have already started payments on before signing up for membership.  You must be a paid member of membership program before signing up for any group trip in order to receive trip discount.  Discount will not be applied if you sign up for the trip 1st.  Discount can only be applied to (1) trip.  This is a (1) time use discount. 

Membership is not "confirmed" until you receive an email from Sisters Traveling Solo stating that you are now a confirmed member.  Membership confirmation as stated below can take up to 15 business days.  Discount will not be applied to a trip that a member signs up before they are confirmed as a "confirmed" member of the membership program.

*Discount cannot be used in conjunction with full payment discount.  

Access to our STS Facebook group*

Members will have the ability to access to our Sisters Traveling Solo Facebook group (currently 71,000 members) upon completion of verification of identity and additional entry requirements. To ensure that members who join our Facebook group have read our group rules, understand our groups' mission, and purpose we will require additional entry requirements before allowing access to our Facebook group.

The additional entry requirements are emailed after our 14-day verification process. Entry into our Sisters Traveling Solo Facebook is not guaranteed and can be denied even with paid membership. If membership is denied Journey member will not have access to Sisters Traveling Solo but can book group trips if they meet the Facebook and Instagram identification requirements.

Exclusive Purchases

There are some STS exclusive items that only our paid members will able to purchase. The member discount cannot be used on exclusive items. Members will only be able to purchase (1) exclusive item for themselves max.
 

New Trip Alerts 

You no longer have to be active on our groups Facebook group to see our group trip announcements.  Members will receive a direct email notifying you that STS has added a new trip.  Note:  This is only a trip announcement notification email. No email will be sent once the trip has opened, is closed, etc. 

MEMBERSHIP PROCESS

PLEASE REVIEW THE BELOW STEPS:

STEP #1 - Complete the membership entry form.

STEP #2 - Within (15) business days our STS team will review your submission and confirm the information you submitted. Verification can take up to 15 business days depending on the number of submissions that were submitted before yours.  

STEP #3 - Once a member is confirmed as having met our program entry requirements they will have access to all membership perks (excluding Facebook group membership).

For members wanting access to our Facebook page, an entry questionnaire will be emailed to be completed before access is allowed.  This questionnaire ensures that the member has reviewed or our group rules, knows were to access group resources, and other relevant information located within the group.  As mentioned above, Facebook membership is not guaranteed and can be denied or removed at any time. No refund will be given if membership is denied or removed. 

STEP #4 - Members will be able to create a profile for our STS forum on our website.  This profile will allow to be able to view the other topics on that page that are currently blocked from none members. 

If you membership is denied you can apply again in 30 days after our email response stating your denial into the program.

FACEBOOK VERIFICATION

I understand that my photos on my Facebook page must be 1. be public so that they are able to viewed by our STS team 2. that my page must so activity, conversation, and exchanges between other Facebook members . I furthermore understand that if my identity is unable to be confirmed via my Facebook page I will not be able to book any Sisters Traveling Solo trips and will be denied access to the Sisters Traveling Solo Facebook page. *
I understand that if I my identity is unable to be verified via my Facebook page that I cannot request that my profile be verified for 3 months from the day of my original membership request. *
I understand that if I my identity is unable to be verified on Facebook that I will refunded my membership fee and that I will not be able to apply for membership again until 3 months after my original submission. *

INSTAGRAM VERIFICATION

I understand that Instagram page names to be Public in order for my identity to be confirmed. I furthermore understand that if my identity is unable to be confirmed via my Instagram I will not be able to book any Sisters Traveling Solo trips. *
I understand that if I my identity is unable to be verified via Instagram that I cannot request that my profile be verified for 3 months from the day of my original membership request. *
I understand that if I my identity is unable to be verified on Instagram that I will refunded my membership fee and that I will not be able to apply for membership again until 3 months after my original submission. *

TRIP REFUND POLICY

I understand that the Journey membership fee is non refundable if not requested within 24 hours of form submission. Refunds will only be given to entrants who request a refund within 24 hours of form submission, or whom Sisters Traveling Solo admins cannot confirm as a woman based on their Instagram or Facebook page. *
I understand that refunds will not be given if I am denied entry to the Sisters Traveling Solo Facebook group. *
