Safety Professional of the Year

This Nomination is for the Safety Professional of the Year for a General Contractor. The honoree will be announced at the TEXO Holiday & Awards Gala, on December 6th, 2024.

Candidate Eligibility

To be eligible for the Safety Professional of the Year Award, the nominee must:

Be employed by an active dues-paying member of TEXO.
Be employed full-time in the profession of safety and health with your company. Consultants are not eligible for this award.
Actively participates in TEXO, AGC, ABC, ASSE, or other safety professional organizations.
Have a minimum of 3 verifiable years as a safety professional.

NOTE: Each year winner of this award will not be eligible to participate for two (2) years. (i.e. winner in 2023, cannot compete again until 2026).

All entries must be received by October 31st

Judging Criteria: 1. Demonstrated technical expertise in the field of safety and or health field, having a thorough knowledge of the operational aspects of his or her job.

Technical Aspect - This area deals with the candidate’s ability to work within a company structure, provide a safe working environment and develop effective safety programs. Including the effects that safety programs have on the operational aspect of the industry. Exhibits thorough knowledge of operational aspects, indicate the complexity, number of locations and people involved as well as the results of program implementation. Demonstrates the ability to work well with all levels in the workplace. *

Operational Aspect - This area deals with the candidate’s ability to work within a company structure, provide a safe working environment and develop effective safety programs. Including the effects that safety programs have on the operational aspect of the industry. Exhibits thorough knowledge of operational aspects, indicate the complexity, number of locations and people involved as well as the results of program implementation. Demonstrates the ability to work well with all levels in the workplace. *

Judging Criteria: 2. Describe the candidate’s involvement with TEXO, AGC, ABC, ASSE, or other safety professional organizations and what contributions did he or she make during this time.

Leadership Roles - Leadership includes demonstrating a high level of responsibility based on individual, team management level leadership skills. *

Involvement - Activities including special or outstanding contributions to the advancement of services to members, lecturer or speaker at seminars, committee/project chairman, etc. *

Judging Criteria: 3. Awards and innovations, including all honors, received for safety activities, citations, honors plus inventions, new ideas, systems, and philosophies developed.

Awards and Honors Received- Describe awards and honors bestowed upon the candidate and explain the purpose and why the candidate received it (Local awards, letters of recognition, etc.) *

Judging Criteria: 4. The Safety Professional who deserves to be recognized as a leader will have established, significantly maintained, or improved the technical programs within his/her company.

Company Contributions- Demonstrate the nominee's ability to define a program need and describe a well-thought-out plan of action including methods of implementation showing any positive impact or results. Describe any new safety and health technology the nominee applied through unique, first-time, state-of-the-art technology having a significant impact on the profession. *

Judging Criteria: 5. List any other personal accomplishments in safety and health not indicated in any other criteria listed.
